Watch repair tools and movement

Why Lanna Timeworks

The Difference Is in the Detail

Watch repair done well is unhurried, transparent, and specific to the piece. Here is what that looks like in practice at our Chiang Mai workshop.

What Working With Us Means

Written Estimates Before Work

Every piece receives a written cost and scope estimate before any disassembly begins. You decide whether to proceed. No work starts without your agreement.

Caliber-Specific Knowledge

We focus on calibers we know well — Valjoux, Lemania, and vintage Japanese quartz movements. We do not take on work we are not equipped to do.

Photo Updates Included

For refurbishment and overhaul work, you receive photographs at key stages. You know what is happening with your piece throughout.

Patina Preserved by Default

We do not over-polish or refinish vintage cases unless asked to. Original wear marks are part of a piece's history, and we treat them accordingly.

Uncommon Parts In Stock

We maintain a stock of less common battery sizes, vintage gaskets, and caliber-specific components — reducing delays for older or unusual pieces.

Condition Reports on Return

Chronograph overhauls come with a written report: work completed, components replaced, and multi-position timing results. A record of what was done.

Deep Technical Expertise

Professional Skill

The watch repair field is broad, and no honest workshop covers every caliber equally well. Ours focuses deliberately: vintage mechanical wristwatches, quartz movements of the 1970s through to the present day, and mechanical chronographs running on Valjoux and Lemania calibers. Within those areas, our knowledge is deep rather than general.

That focus means we have the right tools for the work we take on — timing machines, ultrasonic cleaning equipment, caliber-specific service documentation, and a stock of components that are not always easy to source in Thailand.

  • Over 15 years of hands-on movement experience
  • Valjoux 72, 7750 series and Lemania 1873, 5100 in scope
  • Ultrasonic cleaning and precision timing equipment on site

A Considered Process

How We Work

Each piece moves through the same sequence: non-invasive assessment, written estimate, owner approval, work, and return with documentation. Nothing is skipped and nothing proceeds without the owner's knowledge at each stage.

For vintage refurbishment and chronograph overhaul, periodic photograph updates mean you are not simply waiting in silence for weeks. You can see the movement disassembled, the components being cleaned, the dial care in progress.

  • Assessment → estimate → approval → work → documentation
  • Photograph updates at key stages of longer work
  • Same-week turnaround for most quartz service work

Straightforward Communication

Client Experience

We respond to enquiries within one business day. If a piece falls outside our scope, we say so clearly rather than accepting it and struggling. If the timeline shifts, we let you know before the original date passes.

Pricing is stated in the written estimate and does not change without discussion. There are no charges added on collection for work that was not in the estimate.

  • Responses within one business day
  • No surprise charges on collection
  • Honest about scope — we decline what we cannot do well

Transparent, Fixed Pricing

Value & Cost

Our service prices are published and consistent. Quartz movement service starts at ฿3,800; vintage wristwatch refurbishment at ฿24,800; complete chronograph overhaul at ฿34,500. These figures cover standard work within each scope. If a piece requires additional components or extended work, that is discussed and agreed before it proceeds.

The initial assessment — the visit and visual inspection — carries no charge. You are not paying to find out whether we can help.

  • Published starting prices per service type
  • Initial assessment at no charge
  • Additional costs discussed before they are incurred

What Sets Us Apart

Distinctive Aspects of Our Service

We Decline Work Outside Our Scope

Not every watch belongs in every workshop. If a piece requires caliber knowledge or tooling we do not have, we say so directly and, where possible, suggest where the owner might take it instead. Accepting work we cannot do well serves nobody.

Remote Enquiries Welcome

You do not need to bring a piece to us before we can discuss it. Describe the watch by email and we will give an honest preliminary view on whether it falls within our scope and what kind of work it is likely to need.

Postal Service Available

We receive pieces from across Thailand and occasionally from abroad. Owners outside Chiang Mai can send their watch using a tracked, insured service. We log receipt, assess, and keep the owner informed throughout.

Unhurried by Design

We are a small workshop, not a high-volume chain. That limits how many pieces we work on at once, but it means each one receives proper attention. Vintage refurbishment takes five to eight weeks because that is what careful work requires.
